Lumen Christi Academy is a K-12th-grade Independent Microschool in the Catholic Tradition located in Pipe Creek, Texas, about 40 miles northwest of downtown San Antonio. It exists to form saints for Heaven by providing an authentically Catholic classical education that illuminates young minds with eternal truth, forms virtuous hearts through immutable goodness, and elevates souls through transcendent beauty—all while remaining financially accessible to faithful families of every size.
The Academy features a four-day school week, Monday through Thursday. Some Fridays are reserved for non-mandatory field trips. There are two separate weeks of boarding school for middle and upper school students during the school year, which are used as a spiritual retreat and a time for students to bond with each other. In addition, the Academy offers a 4-day boarding option for 6th-12th grade students.
We look forward to a bright future full of promise and growth. This future is a more fundamentally sound education that prepares our youth for a vocational or professional calling in the secular world. Then too, for a calling as a priest or a religious. A small school like Lumen Christi Academy puts the students in close proximity to priests, faithfully traditional teachers, and an institution guided by the Light of the Most Holy Trinity.

Origin
This micro-school began when a few devoted Catholic families became frustrated with their private Catholic school options. After being presented with a staggering tuition increase and frustrated with elements of the educational model, they began to discuss the challenge, knowing that there was a better way.
When one family shared that they were considering homeschooling to give their child a truly classical education, another replied, “We have actually considered creating a homeschool teacher-led schoolhouse.” With that, the idea began to take shape. Those early conversations showed a resolve to improve the situation for their families and provide an educational alternative to other families in similar situations.
In the following weeks, the Lord affirmed this movement in many ways. Conversations led to action, and action led to a plan.
Lumen Christi Academy officially welcomed students in grades 6th through 12th beginning September 5th, 2023.
After a successful first year, the Academy expanded to include 3rd through 12th grade. This expansion attracted families with younger children and offered a well-rounded, whole-person formation starting at a younger age.
Continuing to advance the mission and outreach, Lumen Christi Academy now offers grades K-12.
